     my friend edward

My friend Edward is a Super-poet

Words to feelings, he sure does own it.

Love, hurt, pathos he all extracts

    From simple verses he re-enacts.

    He is a famous raconteur

    And people travelled from afar

To hear his pithy, magic, verse

    A most amazing universe

Of words ‘nd rhymes, intentions bold

    Imagination to unfold.

    Freeing thoughts, unscaling eyes,

Stripping out the cant and lies,

Giving us a chance to see

Other paths, our minds to free.

Our inner child delight with intent

To see and hear just what was meant

To see beyond the here and now

With crafted words to show us how

To see beyond our daily grind

To see the world with open mind

His words with charm they do delight us

To see the world in veritas.

An artist’s take, an artist’s view

    Allowing you to journey through

    The news, the headlines, policies

With a chance the truth to seize.

He died last year aged 93

    Leaving us a legacy

Of simple words and simple rhymes

To help us move to better times.

Dedicated to my friend Edward. Veritas!
